Summer
The garden is full of flowers, fruits and vegetables and all the sounds of Summer. Quick handfuls of blueberries, strawberries, raspberries or cherry tomatoes are hard to resist. Apricots, peaches and figs warm on old walls flanking the orchard; where over the years we have chosen to leave more of the garden unmown to protect the resident insects and wildlife. The fruit trees seem to sink in the heat and into the long grass. With warmer longer days we eat, cook and talk in the garden, until the sun has set.

Summer Recipes
This is the season to live in the garden, to cook and eat outdoors. We start to harvest all the produce from the garden, to make the most of everything we grow. To walk around bare foot and sit on the swing under the horse chestnut tree looking back at the house. The open sided garden tent is bought from storage and set up over the large wooden table outside the kitchen. This is the place for long lunches with large platters of food for sharing. It is a time of plenty and the food we eat is lighter with lots herbs, vegetables and Summer fruits.
